The 2020 BSATSMC will be February 2nd -6th, 2020

2020 Program Highlights:  “This may be the best Concussion Day programming yet!” Jeff Kutcher MD.  Upper Extremity Orthopedic Injuries to the Shoulder… SLAP Lesions, repair, replace, rehab? Other timely topics: Blood Flow Restriction Therapy, Manual Medicine, Biologics, Patella Stability, Throwing Injuries and more.
Credentialing Approval:

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine and Big Sky Athletic Training Sports Medicine. Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. Credit amount subject to change.  

Interprofessional Continuing Education

This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive 28.25 Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) credits for learning and change.

Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 28.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

PAs

Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 28.25 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.

Athletic Trainers:

Big Sky Athletic Training Sports Medicine Conference (BOC AP# P8417) is approved by the Board of Certification, Inc. to provide continuing education to Athletic Trainers. This program is eligible for a maximum of 28.25 EBP Category hours/CEUs. ATs should claim only those hours actually spent in the educational program. The provider number for 2020 Big Sky Athletic Training Sports Medicine Conference is P8417.

Physicians/Physical Therapists/Physician Assistants and other Allied Health Personnel: 

In support of improving patient care, this activity is approved, and will be implemented by the Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine and the Big Sky Athletic Training Sports Medicine Conference.

Registration Fee of $100:

Registration Fee of only $100 is possible because of the strong contributions of our sponsors.However, those who have limited finances should request a Registration Fee Waiver.    Refunds will be given to anyone who registers and pays but is unable to attend.

Housing Alert!

Please note that the BSATSMC Room Block on Big Sky Resort Properties ends, effective January 1st, 2020.  The published rates under “Accommodations” will still be honored for BSATSMC Attendees, but housing blocks may be full.  Remember to tell reservations you are with the BSATSMC to receive the discounted rates.

Discounted Lift Tickets for BSATSMC Attendees:

This year Big Sky Resort is excited to announce that they have switched to RFID- Radio-Frequency Identification. This refers to a lift ticket technology that stores digital data encoded and captured by radio waves. Most notably RFID is able to be read outside the line of sight. You simply place the media in a pocket to spend less time fumbling for your ticket, and more time on the slopes.

Onsite Rentals can be done upon arrival to Big Sky Resort, go to the Snowcrest Building at the Base of Lone Mountain near the Mountain Mall and follow the signs to Equipment Rental.  Tell the attendants you are with the BSATSMC and want the discounted rental rates as follows:

Information on presenting at the 2020 Big Sky Athletic Training Sports Medicine Conference

This meeting is intended to be a free communication among interested Sports Medicine professionals. Most attendees will be Athletic Trainers, Allied Medicine Professionals and Physicians.

Requests to present at the 2020 BSATSMC are no longer being reviewed by the Planning Committee.  Please consider the 2021BSATSMC if interest in presenting new research, case studies, or a major literature review for next year.

Unfortunately at this time there will be no stipends or travel reimbursement given for speakers who present.  For further questions, please contact Jeffrey Monroe at bsatsmc@gmail.com.

Final Poster presentations are now due January 10th, 2020

Increased sponsorship has allowed the BSATSMC to now cover the printing and production costs for poster presentations.  Details on poster format and posting are available from Jeffrey Monroe at bsatsmc@gmail.com.  It is imperative that you have notified the BSATSMC of your intentions by December 1st with an abstract of your presentation. Original research is encouraged in Concussions and related Athletic Training Domains.

More Details on Poster Presentations:

  • Deadline for Abstracts for Posters will be December 15th, 2019
    • Upon receipt of the abstract, the Planning Committee will determine its’ acceptance.
    • Concussion posters are encouraged, along with significant case studies, all topics are welcome.
    • Once approved, final poster is to be submitted by January 10th, 2020, for processing at the Printers.
    • Even though the BSATSMC will pay for all printing costs and shipping to Big Sky,  posters may be taken by the author after Tuesday, February 4th.
    • Regular updates on all poster presentation submissions will be via email throughout December.
